- “Fifty Ain't Nothin' But A Number” – These are both the lyrics to the theme song and the message behind the unique new AARP Infomercial produced by Auster Productions and recently aired on Black Entertainment Television (BET). The infomercial was hosted by singing icon Jeffrey Osborne and TV Personality Tanya Hart. Director/Cameraman Sam Auster used a very fresh mix of elements that included musical performance, Film and High-Def Video, as well as documentary-style interviews with actual AARP Members, to entertain and inform viewers about the benefits available with membership in AARP.
- The Auster Productions spot “Fairy Godmother,” produced for AARP, was recently discussed in a New York Times article revealing the company's new marketing strategy:
AARP's membership promotions, once somber spots emphasizing AARP's importance as the voice of elders in Washington, are now aimed at funny bones, not fears. In one, a black man says that 50 sounds old, when suddenly his big, sassy "Fairy Godmother" appears and, with lots of attitude, tells him 50 is beautiful. "We've learned to present ourselves with a smile," said John Killpack, director of brand management. — Claudia H. Deutsch, New York Times
